Two Truths and a Lie

Admit it, that title makes you want to comment, doesn’t it. Okay, play along. See if you’re wise enough to divine the lie.

1. After wishing for a kitchen table with matching chairs for 11 years, I finally got one for Mother’s Day.

2. Just weeks before our baby is due we found out it’s NOT a boy, it’s a GIRL!

3. Just weeks before our 4th baby is due the bishop called me to be the Relief Society President!

Look who's 2!

It's hard work to hold up two little fingers.
Oh, the concentration!
She blew those candles right out.
Twice actually, for the sake of a good video.

Cousins, God's gift of life-long friendship and loads of childhood fun.

How can she be that big?

Amber & Kate made these cute panda bear cupcakes
with only a moderate amount of help from mom.

I can't believe Jessica is so big! She loved her birthday. She had the opening of gifts & blowing out of candles all figured out.
Jessica is delightful! If you give her something she wants she giggles with glee, even if it's just a cup of water. She brings so much happiness and laughter to our home. She seeks out the company of other people. She can say whatever she wants now & is my little companion. I love being with her. Today was Amber & Kate's first day out of school. Jessica hung out with them more than me. It felt strange.
She's finding it's difficult to stay in her big bed when her toys are so enticing (sigh). She wakes up at the first creak of a floorboard in the morning, but thankfully sleeps all night. We sometimes hear a little knock-knock on our door earlier than we wish. Jessica has formed attachments to things. She carries around Dora books and a Winnie the Pooh book like most little girls carry around dollies. She's attached to her blankie, her stuffed kitty, her sippy cups (all drinks are milk), and a plastic easter snow globe her Grandma gave her. She calls it her prize.
She still enjoys puzzles, but spends less time doing them because she has discovered the previously off-limit toys in her new bedroom, i.e. My Little Ponies, Polly Pockets, & Littlest Petshops.
We've had issues with Jessica hitting. I simply couldn't handle the consant reports of, "Mom, Jessica just hit me." So, she's begun her first sticker chart. Whenever she draws back her little toddler hand to hit, her big sisters remind her, "Jessica, if you don't hit you get a sticker." It's working wonders. She reports to me, "Mom, a dint it" and grins with pride; and I'm not listening to tattling.

Kate the Kindergarten Graduate

This moment came way too quickly. How can Kate be old enough to have finished kindergarten?
I cry at kindergarten graduations. I love being a mom. I love being such a major part of these little people's lives & getting to witness each milestone. How do the years pass so quickly?

Their little program was so cute! Kindergarteners are so great!

Kate's been growing like crazy lately. She sleeps a lot, complains of growing pains, and wakes up a bigger girl. She's lost her baby looks & is starting to look more like the young woman she will become.
Kate is a people person. She asks to have a friend over several times a week, and has learned to accept her tired, pregnant mom's reluctance gently. She especially loves spending time with her cousins.
Yep, she's outgrown her baby face. She's definitely a big girl now. (A big girl who has her grandpa wrapped around her little finger).

Field day at school was loads of fun.

The kindergarteners got to go on a field trip to Bear World. Jessica & I enjoyed going along. The baby bears were oh so cute.

Kate is a wonderful sister. She has a special relationship with each of her sisters. She's Jessica's second mom. Jessica often calls me "Kate" and Kate "Mom". Kate's been tyring to potty train Jessica. She often plays with Jessica so I can get things done. It's so great!

Updates on Amber

School's out! I can't believe it! Amber finished 2nd grade with perfect grades, reading at a 4.5 grade level. She was telling me today that she doesn't like how some of the kids in her class act, but she's friends with them anyway. That made my heart smile. Amber is naturally a kind person.
All three of our girls have a special relationship with their grandpa.
I look at this picture & just can't believe how fast these girls are growing up.

Amber has been in a singing group called Tavaci.
She has a strong clear voice & loves the stage.
Her school friend Courney has been in Tavaci with her.

Amber loved her field day at school.

I love the way this photo shows her great smile & cute freckles.

General Conference Blog

One of the greatest things about belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is General Conference. The words of living prophets and apostles inspire and bless my life. After the last Conference I started a General Conference Blog with an open invitation to others to read and post about a conference article each week. I was mostly the only contributor, but I still found it really beneficial. For me, it was helpful to have a specific goal to read, study, and apply the messages.

I'm re-extending the invitation to anyone who may want to contribute. Feel free to invite your friends and family too. I'll be reading President Monson's talk, "He is Risen" from the Sunday Morning Session first, and then focusing on talks that focus on families, mothers, fathers, children, etc., since that seemed to be a main theme of the conference. I'll be posting each week by Sunday night. I'll announce the next reading with each of my posts.

My New Life

Every once in a while I peek at Nie Nie Dialogues. Often I cry. It always fills me with a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to be a mother. It's also a reminder to use my time wisely and to fill my days and my family's days with joy. I'm grateful Stephanie shares her life. There's a video clip featuring her story on lds.org. My New Life

Mother's Day Coupon Books

I just made some Mother's Day coupon books for Sharing Time in Primary on Sunday. I'm happy to share. Post a comment if you'd like the jpg images emailed to you.

We'll discuss how the Savior "went about doing good," and how He asked his disciple John to care for his mother, just before He died.

"When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home." John 19: 26-27

The kids will decorate a 2.5" x 6" piece of cardstock with foam stickers and crayons as a cover. Then, we'll staple the coupons into a book.
